Trusted source reveals exact amount Cristiano Ronaldo transfer will cost Man Utd

Manchester United will pay the transfer fee for Cristiano Ronaldo over five years, made up of equal instalments, according to a transfer expert.

Ronaldo is a Man Utd player again, 12 years after he left for Real Madrid. The Portugal legend returned to Old Trafford recently following a three-year stint with Juventus. Having won the Ballon d’Or five times across his career, he will be a monumental player again for United.

Still in strong form at the age of 36 – both physically and technically – Ronaldo signed an initial two-year contract to return to Man Utd. But it has now emerged that they will be paying Juventus for him beyond the expiry of the contract he has signed.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has now provided clarification on how United will be paying for Ronaldo.

Romano says the total amount United are guaranteed to give Juventus is €15m. However, that fee will not all be paid up front in one go.

Instead, United will pay for Ronaldo over a series of five instalments. Each year until 2026, they will pay €3m until fulfilling the total transfer fee.

On top of that, there will be some bonuses that could increase Ronaldo’s cost further. There are clauses worth a potential €5m that could be easy to reach, and others worth a further €3m that would hinge on tougher conditions.

Therefore, the total price United will be paying for Ronaldo is a maximum of €23m (around £19.7m). However, it could be less than that if he does not meet the conditions required to trigger the more complicated bonuses.

On top of that, United will of course have to cover his hefty wages.

United are already earning back a large portion of their investment from shirt sales. It has been revealed by LoveTheSales.com that since the club confirmed Ronaldo would be wearing the number seven shirt again, sales of that jersey reached £68.1m within 72 hours. Their commission has earned them £6.81m of that money.

Home and away kits with his name and number on the back sold out on the club’s official store over the weekend.

It has even been predicted that they will recoup his initial €15m transfer fee from shirt sales alone, potentially before he has even kicked a ball for them again.

Ronaldo delivers message to teammates

Ronaldo could be in line to make his second United debut on 11th September, when they play against Newcastle.

Although yet to meet his new teammates, The Sun claims Ronaldo has already delivered a message to the Red Devils.

“The players are so excited about the arrival of Ronaldo. He has delivered a simple message to them which is ‘We need to win the league’.”

A source added: “Ronaldo and his family are very excited to be moving back to the UK. He loved his time in Manchester and Georgina previously worked in the UK as a nanny before moving to Spain and meeting him.

“They know all about the weather. But they also know how welcoming Brits are and look forward to their children experiencing UK life.”

While some will debate whether Ronaldo will be thrown straight in at Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already given hint as to his team selections.

“He is not signing to sit on the bench. He is going to make us a better team,” Solskjaer said recently.
