Watford strike agreement to sign forward with Champions League experience

Watford have confirmed they have reached an agreement to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Club Brugge ahead of their Premier League return.

The Hornets regained promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking in 2020-21. Now, they are planning for the upcoming season so they can stay in the top tier. They have already signed the likes of Imran Louza, Ashley Fletcher and Danny Rose. Now, they are close to confirming another new addition.

The club revealed via their website that they have reached an agreement with Club Brugge for Dennis.

A forward, Dennis was with Club Brugge between 2017 and 2021, spending the second half of last season on loan at FC Koln. He failed to score in nine Bundesliga appearances, but Watford will be hoping he regains his best form.

In total, during his time in Belgium, he scored 29 goals from 116 games. He has also been capped twice by the senior Nigeria national team.

Mainly a centre-forward, Dennis is also capable of playing on either wing.

Last summer, Dennis was linked with the likes of Arsenal, so Watford have secured a highly sought after player. He will bring Champions League experience to Vicarage Road and at the age of 23 should be a long-term prospect.

The deal is subject to personal terms being agreed, with Watford claiming they are currently being finalised.

Watford set for busy summer

The Hornets are unlikely to be finished there either, as they flex their muscles for the summer.

A recent report suggested they were close to signing a Sporting CP star in what would be another statement signing.
