West Ham have decision to make on midfielder as Italian duo are ‘very interested’

West Ham loan star Alex Kral is on the radar of Italian duo Atalanta and Bologna if the midfielder’s switch to the Hammers does not become permanent in the summer.

Kral arrived on a season-long loan from Spartak Moscow but has struggled for action. The Hammers are obliged to sign him for £17m at the end of the loan if he meets certain criteria. At this stage that looks unlikely to happen and Kral will be on the move again.

Hammers boss David Moyes has opted for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in the heart of his midfield. Kral has had to settle for a place on the bench and has made just one Premier League appearance. That came in the 4-1 win at Watford back in December.

West Ham could move Kral on

The 23-year-old has made just six appearances in all competitions so the writing is on the wall. The £17m that David Moyes would save could be better served elsewhere.

And even if the worst was to happen and Declan Rice moves on, Kral is not seen as a replacement.

A report by Tuttomercatoweb begs to differ however. They believe that West Ham see him as a part of their future. But go on to say that the Hammers would sell if they got a big enough offer.

There is of course the possibility West Ham could sign him for £17m and then sell for a profit. But it remains to be seen if any club would go beyond that figure.

They do say there is definite interest from Atalanta and Bologna. Indeed they claim that talks have already taken place between all parties.

Apparently there is work to be done to complete a deal, but it is a possibility. Even if Kral returns to Spartak Moscow at the end of the loan a switch to Serie A could still happen.

Moyes disappointed

Kral has disappointed Moyes since arriving at West Ham. At the time of the signing Moyes felt he would provide competition in midfield.

“He is another young, talented player who we feel has a big potential and will be capable of adapting to the demands of the Premier League,” Moyes said back in August.

It hasn’t quite worked out and a permanent switch looks unlikely.

However his lack of action does not seem to have deterred the Italian clubs and Kral still has options. West Ham and Kral will now see the season out before a final decision is made on his future.
