Wolves fixtures revealed: Baptism of fire for new boss Bruno Lage

Bruno Lage will be given a baptism of fire as Wolves boss after their fixtures for the 2021-22 season were announced.

Lage faces the tough task of succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo in the Molineux hotseat. And it will not be an easy start for the incoming boss. All three of their opening fixtures in August will be against clubs who qualified for Europe last season.

First up is an away match against fellow Midlands side Leicester on August 14th. Then, his first Molineux match will be against Tottenham Hotspur. And one week after that, they will host Manchester United.

It is certainly not an easy start for Wolves, but they do not face another side who finished in the top seven last season until mid-November, when they host West Ham. There could be the chance to build some momentum in between then.

The following month sees another tough spell, though, tightly packed with top clubs. December’s fixtures begin at home to Liverpool and then away at Manchester City, two of the main title contenders.

A midweek match against Brighton precedes the hosting of Chelsea in their last match before Christmas. Then, on Boxing Day, they host Watford before visiting Arsenal a few days later. And the New Year begins with a trip to face Manchester United to wrap up another tough spell.

Likewise, the conclusion of the campaign looks difficult. In May, they visit Chelsea and host Norwich before finishing the season away at Liverpool.

Wolves drop bombshell on Lage

To make things even harder for Nuno’s successor, Wolves have reportedly put two of their key players up for sale.

According to 90min, Wolves will sell some of their bigger names to fund reinvestment in the squad.

That decision will already have put some of the Premier League’s big boys on alert.
