‘Working on that right now’ – Paratici tipped to spring quick Tottenham transfer

A Tottenham insider has claimed Fabio Paratici is “working on” a January deal to sign a forward that could be made as early as the first of the month.

Tottenham found a measure of form on Thursday night when taking Slovenian minnows NS Mura to task. A triple substitution saw Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min introduced around the hour mark. Kane wasted little time in filling his boots, bagging a 19-minute hat-trick to secure the victory and match ball.

However, that level of potency has been sorely lacking on the domestic front thus far. Spurs have scored just four times in six Premier League matches, with Kane yet to register.

Tottenham were linked with a plethora of forwards over the summer amid speculation Kane could join Man City. And while the England captain remained, many of those rumours have persisted with Tottenham struggling in the final third.

Indeed, Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic remains on the club’s radar. The 21-year-old Serbian sensation is in the final two years of his contract and Fiorentina have been incapable of tying him down to fresh terms so far.

Now, Tottenham ‘insider’ John Wenham, who has broken news on the Lilywhite Rose social media channels, has claimed Paratici has irons in the fire over an addition in the forwards. What’s more, Wenham hinted any such move may be made in time for an immediate arrival on January 1.

“January is two months away already,” Wenham told Football Insider. “What we want is a forward. Someone who can play as a striker but maybe also in that number 10 role.

“Paratici is working on that right now. We can’t afford to wait around. We need someone who can come in on January 1st.

“None of this waiting until the last day of the window to do deals. The new Tottenham need to be proactive rather than reactive.

“We need to hit the ground running on January 1st and I’m sure there are deals to be done. The one issue is some players will be cup-tied in this country or in Europe.

“But on the flip side of that, there will be plenty of Premier League games left. We can’t afford to wait all month.”

Tottenham misfit draws surprise Chelsea links

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been surprisingly named as a potential landing spot for a Tottenham maverick who would test Thomas Tuchel’s managerial ability, per a report.

One player who Nuno Espirito Santo has thus far struggled to prise the best from is Tanguy Ndombele. The French midfielder, 24, was the subject of strong speculation he would depart over the summer. That primarily stemmed from the player himself making clear his desire to seek pastures new.

Ndombele has drawn links with both Man Utd and Jose Mourinho’s Roma. However, according to Caught Offside (citing Spanish outlet Don Balon) Chelsea have thrown their hat in the ring.

It’s stated the Blues are ‘one of his suitors’ at this moment in time. While Don Balon are known for being on the lighter side of journalistic integrity, a move could make sense in some aspects.

N’Golo Kante is noted to be increasingly struggling with injury issues in recent seasons. Kante remains a midfield monster when fit, though keeping him in good health is proving more difficult than ever.

Additionally, Saul Niguez has struggled in admittedly limited showings thus far. If his poor form continues, the Blues would be unlikely to trigger his permanent option. Though despite those motivations, the likelihood of Chelsea sanctioning a deal for a Spurs flop still seems highly unlikely.
