Raiola ‘changes strategy’ as agent steers Pogba out of Man Utd with fresh plan

Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has devised a fresh plan to find his Manchester United client an exciting switch of club, a report claims.

The 28-year-old midfielder has enjoyed arguably his best spell at Old Trafford since the start of last season. Not only have his performances proved consistent, but he has added goal contributions to his work.

In fact, Pogba notched seven assists in four Premier League games this term. No player in the competition’s history had previously reached that tally in four games at the start of a season.

But despite his impressive form this term, contractual uncertainty is lingering over Pogba.

He is into the final year of his Man Utd deal, but there have been no concrete signs that an extension is forthcoming.

As such, transfer links with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid remain for the France international.

Madrid’s interest reached one of a few peaks in the summer of 2018. In the time between then and now, however, El Nacional reports that Raiola wanted to send Pogba to Barcelona.

Although, Barcelona have now encountered a crippling financial crisis and Pogba’s transfer there is off the cards.

As a result, the report adds that Raiola is ‘changing his strategy’ and rekindling ties with Florentino Perez.

The agent has a strong working relationship with the Madrid president and hopes to strike a deal involving Pogba.

Pogba has, this season, moved into a more advanced role – often on the left – in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

Amid his starring role for France at Euro 2020, the midfielder spoke of his desire for more attacking freedom at club level.

Man Utd urged to land Verratti

While Pogba plays further forward this season, Fred and Scott McTominay remain manager Solskjaer’s favoured defensive midfield pairing.

However, according to Ashley Young, United have never properly replaced Michael Carrick in that sort of role.

Still, former United man Young claimed that Paris Saint-Germain’s Verratti would come close to filling that void.

The Italy Euro 2020 star put in a strong performance against Manchester City on Tuesday.

Barcelona’s struggles to appoint Xavi could open door to two other potential Koeman successors
