Arteta highlights major aspect of Leicester win; hails ‘incredible’ Arsenal man

Mikel Arteta hailed a major aspect of Arsenal’s performance as his side secured an impressive 2-0 Premier League win at Leicester on Saturday.

The Gunners reaped the benefits of a fast start as they continued their fine run with victory at the King Power, with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale producing a stunning display against the Foxes.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Emile Smith Rowe – with his fourth goal in seven games – had the visitors on top within the opening 20 minutes at the King Power Stadium and Arsenal headed back down the M1 with a 2-0 win after stoutly defending their advantage.

The victory is a seventh in nine across all competitions for Mikel Arteta’s side, who showed glitz and guile in equal measure to outfox Leicester.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Arteta said: “I was really happy, against a top team. It is really hard to come here and win. The way we did it – we had to come here and suffer and we managed the game really well in the second half.”

On goalkeeper Ramsdale’s save from James Maddison’s free-kick, Arteta added: “I have just seen the pictures, it was incredible. He saved them both. Those moments, the individual actions they are needed.

Game management key for Gunners

“The team created a lot of issues for them. We carried on playing after 1-0 and scored the second. We knew they would change and get at us.

“There were moments we didn’t manage situations well enoug. But in the last 20 minutes we modified things and got control back in the game.

“We need to carry on. We haven’t done anything – we won a couple of matches and we want to improve. There are a lot of positives but there are a lot of things to improve.”
