Jude Bellingham ‘saying he is Liverpool bound’, says informed source
Jude Bellingham is heading for Liverpool and has been telling people as much, according to former Middlesbrough midfielder Craig Hignett.
In fact Hignett, 51, who made 155 appearances for Boro, says that England midfielder Bellingham “is almost a cert” to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s men. The 18-year-old England starlet is one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe and the Reds have been linked with a move for the player.
A report in The Times in September, written by Merseyside journalist Paul Joyce, confirmed Liverpool’s interest
The article claimed that while his sale looked unlikely in the summer 2022, the Reds do have, according to Joyce and Matt Lawton, “significant interest” in Bellingham.
They, along with Manchester City and Manchester United, would all make serious moves to sign him if Borussia Dortmund were to sell.
In fact United tried to lure Bellingham to Old Trafford when the youngster departed Birmingham for Germany. Dortmund though managed to sign Bellingham because of their track record of developing young talent.
And Bellingham has developed quickly with the Bundesliga side and he was called up to the Euro 2020 squad by England boss Gareth Southgate.
Now he looks ready to step up again, although his contract in Dortmund runs until 2025.
Hignett though says he has been told that the player is heading to Liverpool whether it be in January or next summer.
“I think I’ve heard it on good authority and I can’t say where I’ve heard it from. But apparently he has been saying that he is Liverpool bound,” he told BBC Radio Merseyside via the Liverpool Echo.
“Whether that is January or whether that is the end of the season isn’t sure yet. But I think, I have it on good authority that it is almost a cert.”

Dortmund not ready to lose Bellingham
Last week Dortmund chief, Sebastian Kehl, delivered an update on Bellingham’s situation.
“There’s lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool,” Kehl told Sport1 (via Fabrizio Romano).
However, prising him away from Dortmund won’t be a task for the faint of heart. Kehl added: “But there is no bottom line and no exit clause.
“He is loved, he enjoys that. There are no signs he could leave BVB soon.”
