Tottenham baulk at wages of deadline-day target, as Barca man agrees Ligue 1 transfer
Tottenham look set to miss out on a deadline-day deal for Barcelona outcast Ousmane Dembele after Paris Saint-Germain reportedly agreed a deal to sign the striker.
Spurs were linked with a move for the France forward by Marca, but a deal seems unlikely. A number of Premier League clubs, inclusing Chelsea and Newcastle are understood to have taken an interest in the 24-year-old. But Manchester United are not one of the interested parties, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Tottenham are looking for some late business, but Dembele’s wages are thought to have deterred Spurs.
Marca claim Dembele is not willing to join a club where he will earn less money. His Barca contract is thought to be worth around £210,000-a-week following a £135million move from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season. However, his wage demands have so far blocked any January transfer.
The attacker’s stance is said to have infuriated new boss Xavi. The Barcelona icon who wants the forward off his books so he can add Alvaro Morata to his squad.

PSG ‘agree’ Dembele deal
The Daily Mail claimed that Spurs had been offered Dembele by an intermediary.
Barca want a fee of about £16m, but the player was not keen on reducing his salary, despite his contract running down this summer.
Instead, PSG have now entered the fray for Dembele with Guillem Balague claiming a deal has been agreed in principle.
Barcelona want £16.6m for the forward, who has scored once in 11 appearances this season.
Barca paid an initial £96.8m for Dembele in 2017, but are willing to let him go for a reduced sum with his deal set to expire. PSG will need to negotiate on the fee, but they are believed to have agreed personal terms with the right winger.
