Aaron Ramsey saga finally ends after securing shock return with left-field choice
The transfer saga regarding the future of Aaron Ramsey is finally over after the Welshman agreed a UK return with a surprise decision.
Ramsey has looked in line for a return to the Premier League for much of the January window. Indeed, he has been the subject of interest from a host of English sides.
Juventus have wanted to offload him for some time. Max Allegri confirmed earlier in the month that they would be moving him on this window.
Interest has been well reported from a number of Premier League sides especially. However, Ramsey frustrated Juve by rejecting Newcastle, Wolves and Burnley.
His rebuttal was likely due to those sides not offering him high enough wages. Indeed, Ramsey’s contract reportedly contains a massive salary.
That seemed to slow interest in a permanent transfer from most clubs. However, Ramsey’s departure from Juventus has finally been confirmed today, per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
His choice comes somewhat out of left field, as he is set to join Scottish giants Rangers. The Gers are top of the Scottish Premiership, and will be boosted by the addition of the classy Welsh star.
Romano added the move is an initial loan move that contains an option to buy. Official confirmation is expected in the coming hours.
Rangers will reportedly only pay a portion of the Welshman’s wages. Juventus have still not managed to get his bumper contract off the books entirely, despite his departure.
Ramsey will no doubt be keen on gaining consistent playing time. The 31-year-old only completed a full 90 minutes for the Old Lady on one occasion.
McAtee may join Ramsey at Rangers
Rangers are also reportedly interested in Premier League youngster James McAtee. The Manchester City youth has played three times for the senior squad.
He has attracted interest from a number of sides after having impressed in City’s academy.
At least four Premier League sides are interested in the 19-year-old, as well as Rangers.
Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is hoping that his friendship with Pep Guardiola could help his side land the star.
