Euro Paper Talk: Edwards’ final deals as Liverpool ruin Chelsea, Arsenal plans for £118m duo; Everton talks over £105m star
Liverpool are working on a pair of eye-catching summer deals with Aurelien Tchouameni up first, Everton snubbed the chance to sign a £105m attacker on deadline day, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Newcastle will go big for a Napoli star this summer.
TCHOUAMENI WILL BE EDWARDS’ FINAL LIVERPOOL ACT
Liverpool are already putting the wheels in motion to sign both Aurelien Tchouameni and Youri Tielemans this summer, claims a report.
The Reds put their focus on quality over quantity in January as they sealed the exciting capture of Luis Diaz.
The Colombian cost Liverpool £37.5m transfer with a further £12.5m earmarked in add-ons down the line.
And with their attack now looking well covered for the future, sporting director Michael Edwards is now working on his next additions.
Indeed, as per journalist Kevin Palmer, as cited by Football.London, Liverpool are now focusing on Tchouameni.
The Monaco midfielder very much features high on Liverpool’s wishlist and plans are afoot over a summer deal.
Indeed, Liverpool may have moved in January had Tottenham’s interest in Diaz now forced them into a change of approach.
However, Edwards, who leaves his job on June 30, plans to finish with a flourish by landing Tchouameni at the end of the season instead.
Liverpool are being quoted a £68m fee for the teenager, branded the next Steven Gerrard in France.
And his signing will come as a devasting blow to Chelsea, who themselves have also held talks over his signing.
Liverpool fancy Tielemans alongside Tchouameni
The Reds are also keen to add Youri Tielemans to their midfield this summer, the report claims.
The Belgian is being tracked by Arsenal, but Liverpool want to sign the £50m-rated star to play alongside Tchouameni.
He falls out of contract in summer 2023, leaving Leicester with little choice but to sell.
Liverpool are likely to fund the two arrivals with some sales, however.
Indeed, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino are among those likely to be sacrificed.
