Barcelona make shrewd agreement with Santos for ‘great pearls’ of Brazilian football

Barcelona have managed to lock down two “of the great pearls” of Brazilian football, according to a report by Diario Sport.

FIFA sided with Barcelona last summer regarding a breach of contract between Brazilian club Santos and the LaLiga giants. Barca had a preferential buy option for striker Gabigol, but Santos sold him to Inter Milan. It was a deal which went through in August 2016 behind Barcelona’s back.

Barcelona had managed to get the option as part of the deal which saw Neymar arrived in Catalonia from Santos three years previously.

Gabriel Barbosa though signed a five-year deal with the Serie A outfit for a fee of around €28m.

Barcelona appealed to FIFA and the organisation ordered Santos to pay €2.9m to the Camp Nou side.

However, Barcelona officials negotiated preferential rights deals to Kaiky and Angelo, rather than accepting the money.

As per the Spanish outlet, Barca officials have set a fixed transfer fee on the Santos starlets.

They can sign both players for a fixed sum of €35m each and the report claims deals for the pair is likely.

Angelo, 17, is already a regular starter fort Santos on the right wing. The left-footed wideman is regarded as one of the best winger’s in the Brasileirao.

Santos have already given him the mythical shirt 11, worn by Neymar Jr. They rate him highly and have him under contract until 2024, but Barcelona have him in their sights.

Liverpool, Man Utd watched Brazilians

Liverpool were believed to be keeping tabs on Angelo, Sport Witness reported in 2021.

The Reds were monitoring the winger’s development and analysing the possibility of a move. Real Madrid also positioned themselves for the wonderkid, but it appears Barcelona have got a deal in the bag.

Kaiky meanwhile, is an 18-year-old entre-back and has been compared to Marquinhos at PSG.

He is regarded as the best defender of his generation in Brazil and European scouts have been flocking to watch him

Kaiky, who is under contract until 2023, has “everything to succeed: physical, technical capacity and mentality”.

The defender was linked with Arsenal ad Man Utd last year.

But speaking to ESPN Brazil in May, Kaiky insisted he saw his future with  his current employers.

“This conversation is more with my agent, but my thoughts at the moment are at Santos,” the teenager said.

“I love this club very much, I don’t want to leave soon, I want to win many titles here, it’s the club I support, the club of my heart.
