Four more clubs rival Leeds for Brenden Aaronson transfer as Salzburg boss names his best quality
Leeds United now have serious competition for the Brenden Aaronson transfer this summer with four Bundesliga clubs now firmly on the midfielder’s trail.
The Whites were firmly on Aaronson’s trail over the January transfer window and saw two bids for the star rejected. With Marcelo Bielsa looking to bolster his midfield, the club were hoping to make Aaronson their first permanent midfield capture since Adam, Forshaw in January 2018.
And while it wasn’t to be, the presence of director of football Victor Orta in Austria gives Leeds hope that a summer deal could yet go through.
Ultimately though Salzburg did not want to sell Aaronson with a big Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on the horizon.
Now, ahead of that game, SportBild takes a look at the USA midfielder and the possibility of him leaving this summer.
And while Leeds do get a mention, they claim four Bundesliga sides are also on his trail. Furthermore, that quartet of clubs will be keeping a close eye on him on Wednesday evening.
As well as Leeds, they state Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hoffenheim and Freiburg are also keen.
AC Milan have also previously been credited with an interest. As such, Leeds may have their work cut out in landing Aaronson this summer.
Brenden Aaronson transfer a likely scenario
That said, he is expected to leave Salzburg for pastures new.
The Austrian side’s boss – the 33-year-old Matthias Jaissle – is also a man in demand and may too be on the move this summer.
For that reason, a good showing against Bayern will put both Jaissle and Aaronson firmly in the shop window.
Speaking about Aaronson’s qualities, Jaissle says he has never seen a creative midfielder work so hard for a team.
“The special thing is: I hardly know any other ten who works so much against the ball. He always puts himself behind, is a great team player, very hardworking and has a monster mentality.”
