Euro Paper Talk: Bargain Liverpool transfer target admits ‘there has been contact’; only one Prem bidder for Erling Haaland
One man who is on the radar of Liverpool has admitted his agent was in transfer talks last month, while only one Premier League team has made an offer for Erling Haaland, all in the Euro Papers.
ROCHA SANTOS OPENS UP ON TALKS
Reported Liverpool target Kenny Rocha Santos has said his agent held talks with interested clubs in January.
The KV Oostende midfielder came on to Jurgen Klopp’s radar in 2021, according to Voetbal Flitsen.
Reds scouts have been tracking the 22-year-old central midfielder this season and been impressed. Feyenoord and Porto also like what they have seen from the Cape Verde international.
Rocha Santos signed for Oostende from French club AS Nancy last summer. And in his debut season, he has made 24 appearances, scoring one goal and laying on three assists.
One of the attractions to Dos Santos was that Oostende were believed to only value the midfielder at around €10m. Therefore he would represent a real bargain.
The Reds though did not get hold of him in January, but Dos Santos says talks did occur with some unnamed clubs.
“There have been contacts between my manager and some clubs, but it’s not like an immediate transfer was in the air,” Dos Santos told Voetbal Nieuws, via Sport Witness.
“For me, there was never any doubt. It was certain that I would still be playing for KV Oostende after the new year.
“I know many players dream of the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A… But if I could choose, I would like to play a Champions League match one day.
“I would also like to play a World Cup with Cape Verde. That is really a dream.
“The problem is that Cape Verde is a small football country and only five African teams can go to the World Cup. In football, of course, you never know and anything is possible.”
