Where are they now? Barcelona’s XI from Xavi’s CL debut vs Man Utd – PF

Barcelona legend Xavi Hernadez is currently in the infancy of his reign as the club’s manager, but in 1998 the Spaniard was making his first strides to becoming a superstar as a player when he made his Champions League debut at Old Trafford.

The then-teenage midfielder came on to replace Brazilian icon Rivaldo 20 minutes from time in a group-stage, six-goal thriller against Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.

Eventually racking up 767 appearances, 85 goals and 25 titles, Xavi didn’t do too badly at the Nou Camp. But many of his team-mates in the 3-3 draw 23 years ago were also star names in their own right.

See Louis van Gaal’s full Barca XI from that game here.
