Chelsea transfer struggles deepen for Thomas Tuchel as key man in sights of former club
Thomas Tuchel has had his Chelsea transfer struggles deepen as a key man is reportedly in the sights of his former club.
After a fairytale start to life as Blues boss last year, it’s been somewhat of a nightmare this season. While action on the pitch hasn’t been too bad, ongoings off it have progressively got worse and worse.
A number of contract disputes have rumbled on throughout the past few months, with progress little to none on that front.
As it stands, the defensive trio of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are all walking away for free in the summer.
Striker Romelu Lukaku has also presented problems, with his bombshell interview doing Tuchel no favours.
And now Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has put eyes on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. That has distracted the squad ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
There’s no reprieve for the German coach, because The Telegraph claim Paris Saint-Germain could make a move for N’Golo Kante.

While the France international hasn’t been an urgent contract need, he is now into the final 18 months of his deal with the west London club.
That leaves them with a dilemma. If they don’t tie him down to a renewal before next season, they could lose him for free in 2023.
An approach from PSG would therefore give them a chance to cash in while they can.
Kante, 30, has been admired by the Ligue 1 side for a number of years. And after turning them down in 2019, he admitted their interest was “rewarding”.
As much as he is still performing at a world-class level, it may be the best time for all parties to strike a deal. Especially if Chelsea want to bring in Declan Rice.
Chelsea man pleads with team-mate to stay
Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah wants a team-mate to pen a contract extension at Stamford Bridge, amid interest from several European giants.
Chalobah is a product of the club’s famed academy. He had loan spells at Ipswich, Huddersfield and Lorient before making his Blues debut in the UEFA Super Cup victory over Villarreal.
The 22-year-old faces plenty of competition for a starting spot. But he is making a big impression in west London and could get it in years to come.
However, he wants to continue learning from one of his team-mates and has urged them to stay put…
