Leicester could auction off major star to highest bidder, with European giants already in contact

Leicester City could be forced into the sale of Youri Tielemans to the highest bidder as Juventus links have emerged, pointing to a potential deal.

Tielemans has been one of Leicester’s most important assets over the past few years. Indeed, the Belgian has contributed to 46 goals in 141 games for the Foxes.

Leicester have finished fifth in the Premier League for both of the last two seasons. Tielemans was directly involved in 19 league goals across those two campaigns.

What’s more, he scored the winner in last season’s FA Cup final.

Clearly, the midfielder is a linchpin in the Foxes’ success, and big sides have begun to take notice. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are English sides with reported interest in Tielemans.

There is also reported interest from further afield. Il Bianconero states that Juventus made contact with the Foxes in the summer regarding the 24-year-old.

That report states that Leicester rebuffed the approach. What’s more, they see the midfielder as a ‘non-transferable’ asset, due to his starring role in the side.

However, with Brendan Rodgers’ side struggling of late, they may be forced to sell to the ‘highest bidder’. Given his top performances at Leicester, he may now be a big fish in a small pond.

Tielemans may no longer be Juve’s top target, though they will likely keep a keen eye on him.

Any developments will also pique the interest of the English sides reportedly keeping tabs on the Belgian.

Tielemans and Schmeichel among top stars at Leicester

Tielemans is one of a cohort of big names at Leicester. James Maddison made a big claim about another Leicester team-mate last week.

The midfielder’s praise came following the Foxes’ 3-1 win against Randers in the Europa Conference League.

“He’s [Kasper Schmeichel] a top goalkeeper, I think he’s in the top three of the Premier League,” he said.

Schmeichel has, like Tielemans, proved a stalwart to Leicester with 461 appearances and counting.
