Manchester City expected to secure major coup soon as clock ticks down
Manchester City are edging closer to the signing of Erling Haaland, with time of the essence due to the striker’s release clause.
Haaland has established himself as one of the hottest commodities in world football right now. Indeed, him and Kylian Mbappe are seen to be the biggest talents of their generation. It is clear to see why Haaland is so highly touted. The striker has scored 80 goals in as many games for Borussia Dortmund, and has also provided 21 assists.
The Norwegian has been linked with many of Europe’s big hitters, thanks to his major attacking prowess.
Manchester City and Barcelona have been the two most heavily linked sides. What’s more, it seems City may have the deal all but completed.
That is according to SportBILD, who provide an update that sees City in the box seat. That report states that Haaland’s release clause is active until the end of April.
Furthermore, City will reportedly activate the €75million (£63million) clause, before the time runs out.
Given City’s long-standing desire to land Haaland, that deal will be a massive relief.
Furthermore, Haaland reportedly ‘wants to go’ to City, so he will be happy with reports of the transfer finally being sorted.
Premier League defenders will likely be less than happy about Haaland’s arrival in the league, though.
Toss up between Haaland and Kane
In other news, Harry Kane has been advised to dump Tottenham for Man City. That is according to former Premier League forward Gabby Agbonlahor.
“You’ve got to go. The joke’s over now. He’s given them so much, Harry Kane. This season he’s stayed and they are nowhere near winning a trophy, nowhere near getting top four,” Agbonlahor said.
“He’s going to be 30 before you know it. He could end up one of those players who should have gone to a big club, but stayed at Spurs.
“If I was him, I’d 100 per cent go to Man City. That’s if they still want him, though, as Haaland is available in the summer.”
With Haaland reportedly on the way to City, Kane’s chance to join may have passed.
