Predicted Manchester United team to face Leicester City: Maguire to be afforded opportunity to get fans on side
After some up-and-down form, the predicted Manchester United team against Leicester City will have a familiar feel, and represents a chance for Harry Maguire to get fans on side.
The Red Devils have not been in the best of form over the past few games. Indeed, they were knocked out of the Champions League following a 2-1 defeat on aggregate to Atletico Madrid last time out.
They beat Tottenham 3-2 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick before that. However, they suffered a 4-1 loss to rivals Manchester City the game prior.
Manchester United captain Maguire was in the news in the week. He was booed by England fans during the 3-0 win over Ivory Coast.
Interim United manager Ralf Rangnick was bemused by the treatment of his player, but seems to be behind him. It was “unusual” according to the manager, but it “won’t happen” at Old Trafford, he thinks.
Given Maguire is United’s captain, it seems he is likely to be given the opportunity to impress against his former club Leicester. Of course, Rangnick feels the centre-back is an “important” player.
The only injury concern for United is Edinson Cavani, whose calf injury will keep him out for the foreseeable future. As such, United will no doubt field a strong team for the fixture.

During the Champions League match, David De Gea started in net, as is the norm. Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles were the full backs.
Maguire and Raphael Varane started as the centre-back pairing.
Scott McTominay and Fred played in holding-midfield.
Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes – who has just penned a new deal – and Anthony Elanga were utilised in behind the striker.
Cristiano Ronaldo was deployed as the no.9.
Predicted Manchester United team against Leicester City
Against Leicester, De Gea will likely retain his position in net. Dalot could play right-back, with Luke Shaw possibly returning at left-back, following a good international break with England.
Varane and Maguire could play in the heart of the defence.
McTominay and Fred may continue in their roles in holding-midfield.
Fernandes is likely to play, off the back of a brace for Portugal which sent them to the World Cup. He could be joined by Sancho and Elanga. Indeed, Pogba might find it tough for a place in the side, given his recent comments regarding United’s season being “dead”.
Ronaldo could once again start up front, and will want to replicate his form against Tottenham a few games ago.
