Tottenham learn inviting valuation of striker target – but in unwanted way

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Mohamed-Ali Cho will be on the move this summer – but Marseille are now trying to beat them to the transfer, it has been claimed.

Mohamed-Ali Cho came through the youth ranks at Everton before embarking on a senior career with Angers in 2020. His return to his country of birth has been beneficial for his development. To date, the attacker has played in 48 matches for the club at senior level.

Although he has only scored twice, Cho has been showing plenty of promise. As such, a number of clubs have been looking into him as a transfer target.

Back in January, Tottenham Hotspur were one of them. They may be in the market for another striker to support Harry Kane – who himself continues to be linked with a transfer away amid his return to peak form.

Whether Kane stays or goes, it would be beneficial either way for Tottenham to plan for the future up front.

Now, though, they face competition from Marseille, who could offer Cho an alternative platform in Ligue 1.

That’s according to Le10 Sport, who suggest Marseille may make their move in the summer. It could be the perfect time to target Cho.

The 18-year-old will only have a year left on his contract at that point. What’s more, information from AS has been relayed, claiming that Angers “will absolutely have to sell” Cho.

Affordable asking price for Mohamed-Ali Cho

In the process, their asking price has also emerged. If Marseille – or Tottenham – want to get their hands on Cho, they will have to part with €10m. That equates to around £8.35m.

It is the kind of figure that should be well within reach for clubs the stature of Tottenham. Whether they will be able to beat Marseille to it remains to be seen.

Other clubs to have been linked with Cho in recent months include Leicester City and Chelsea. It seems there could be the chance for him to return to English football if he desires; if not, moving to Marseille may be an interesting option over in France.

Marseille are currently third in Ligue 1, a position that would put them in contention for Champions League football if they can stay there.

It is the same territory that Tottenham are aspiring to after climbing into the top four of the Premier League recently. Cho has never played at European level before, but the signs suggest he has the potential to do so.
