Liverpool hadn’t started off too brightly at the London Stadium and allowed West Ham to go ahead, but the lead didn’t last for long as Cody Gakpo’s long-range effort silenced the home fans.
Lucas Paqueta had given the Hammers a deserved lead after finishing off a brilliant passing move, though that seemed to spur the visitors on and once they managed to get their own game going, they were just as decisive, working the ball through the lines with aplomb.
Gakpo didn’t need asking twice when given a sight of goal.
