“I am the manager” – Arne Slot responds to Liverpool fans booing Rio Ngumoha decision
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hit back at booing fans inside Anfield today when he subbed off Rio Ngumoha against Chelsea.
The 17-year-old was having a fine game against the Blues, and generally looks like one of the more exciting attacking players in Slot’s somewhat out-of-sorts side right now.

Still, Slot has insisted Liverpool fans perhaps didn’t realise that he had to make the decision because Ngumoha was struggling with an injury and said he couldn’t continue.
The Dutch tactician will be feeling the pressure at the moment as it’s been a difficult season at Liverpool, and he came across as slightly frosty with his response after the game.

When asked about why he took Ngumoha off and what he thought of the reaction from the fans, Slot insisted he’s the manager and this is the kind of decision he has to make sometimes.
“I don’t think it was some of them – there were a lot that didn’t agree with the change which is completely understandable,” Slot told TNT Sports, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“He was having problems with his muscles and when I asked him he said he was not sure he could continue. I knew this would be the reaction because he is such a good player.
“So often in football, people don’t know everything. I am the manager and I need to make decisions.
“Knowing why makes it more sense for people.”

What next for Liverpool?
LFC fans were clearly not happy after today’s poor performance and 1-1 draw against an out-of-form Chelsea side.
Ryan Gravenberch scored a superb goal early on and at that point there was surely an opportunity for the Reds to really hammer their opponents.
That didn’t happen, however, and the team’s lack of attacking instincts seemed to rub the home crowd up the wrong way.
Enzo Fernandez eventually equalised, meaning Chelsea picked up their first Premier League point since early March.
