Arsenal handed injury scare after attacker limps off on international duty
Arsenal have been handed another injury concern after Christos Tzolis was forced off just 18 minutes into Greece’s dramatic Nations League draw with the Netherlands.
The 24-year-old winger appeared to suffer a muscular problem shortly after seeing an early goal disallowed, leaving Mikel Arteta facing an anxious wait over the fitness of one of his summer signings.
Tzolis joined Arsenal from Club Brugge during the summer and has quickly become an important part of Arteta’s attacking options, making the timing of the setback particularly frustrating ahead of the return of domestic football.
Tzolis suffered apparent hamstring problem for Greece
According to The Sun, Tzolis started Greece’s Nations League meeting with the Netherlands in Thessaloniki but lasted only 18 minutes.
He thought he had opened the scoring after 13 minutes, only for the goal to be ruled out because Vangelis Pavlidis was judged to have interfered from an offside position.
Five minutes later, Tzolis went down with what appeared to be a hamstring injury and was visibly upset as Greece’s medical staff assessed him. He was eventually replaced by Giorgos Masouras.
There was at least one encouraging sign afterwards. Tzolis remained on the bench rather than immediately leaving for further treatment and was later seen celebrating Greece’s goals with his teammates.
Greece eventually drew 2-2, surrendering a two-goal advantage as the Netherlands recovered through Virgil van Dijk and Tijjani Reijnders.
I’M OPTIMISTIC!

Arsenal will hope Tzolis injury is only a short-term setback
The concern for Arsenal is understandable because Tzolis has made an encouraging start since arriving for around £34million, registering four assists in his opening eight appearances across all competitions.
He has also started all five of Arsenal’s Premier League matches so far, highlighting how quickly Arteta has come to trust him.
The encouraging aspect is that there has been no confirmation of a serious injury yet. Tzolis is expected to undergo further assessment before the full extent of the problem becomes clear.
With Arsenal returning to Premier League action against Leeds United, Arteta will hope the substitution was precautionary rather than the beginning of a prolonged absence.
Given the club’s other fitness concerns during the international break, losing another regular starter would be particularly unwelcome.
