Agents don’t fancy Arsenal, as Arteta dealt transfer blow in plans to replace Aubameyang

Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their bid to land a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the agents of Dusan Vlahovic reportedly refused to speak to the Premier League club.

The 21-year-old forward has blasted 16 goals in 21 Serie A games this season. The Fiorentina star has also matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals netted in a calendar year, with 33. And with his contract close to expiring in 2023 he is looking to move on this summer.

Fiorentina are under no illusion that retaining Vlahovic’s services will be difficult. Tottenham and Arsenal have both registered their interest, but it was Spurs who were deemed the most credible option to secure a £68m deal by TuttoMercatoWeb.

Vlahovic is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League, but a move to Arsenal looks to have been shelved.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio told Wett Freunde claimed that Arsenal are not deemed suitable for Vlahovic.

“It depends on which project, how much money he is being given,” said Di Marzio.

“Arsenal, for example, his agents do not want to speak to them. They think Arsenal is not enough for him and his career.”

And that news will be a crushing blow to Mikel Arteta who is looking for a new striker. Aubameyang’s disciplinary issues means his future looks far from assured, while Alexandre Lacazette is out of contract next summer.

Instead Vlahovic is more interested in Manchester United, Manchester City or even Tottenham.

“They think that Tottenham or Man City or Man United are more fit for him,” he added.

Spurs ‘right fit’ for Vlahovic

“Tottenham with Antonio Conte as coach, is the right fit for him. He could be a replacement for [Harry] Kane or even play with him for one year.

“He can improve with Kane, by training with him, during the matches.

“I think that he can learn from a top player like Kane. One year behind Kane, or he can play with him – that should be the right fit for him.

“I think he needs another step with Antonio Conte as coach.

“I don’t know if Tottenham will spend all the money, but the club should be the right fit for him in this moment of his career.”
