Ancelotti hopes ‘new signing’ will make ‘huge difference’ to next Everton season

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed what would be his number one “new signing” to make a “huge difference” to the Toffees next season.

Everton secured a crucial win in their quest for European football as fans returned to Goodison Park. The club’s home form has been a sore spot this season, losing nine league matches and failing to register a home win since March 1st.

Adama Traore posed a significant threat throughout for Wolves, but man of the match Michael Keane helped his side nullify the winger’s threat as best he could. Richarlison broke his own poor streak in front of goal moments after the break to notch the game’s only goal.

The Brazilian had been found wanting in front of goal in 2021, but powered home his first goal in 11 appearances when heading Gylfi Sigurdsson’s corner beyond John Ruddy.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the Ancelotti said: “It was much better. Better attitude. We wanted to win. It was an open game.

“We are in the fight. Manchester City will be the most difficult game but it was important to stay there.

“The fans make a huge difference to the atmosphere and to the motivation of the players. I hope the new signing of the transfer market will be the supporters. It will make a huge difference for next season.”

On whether they can beat City on the final day: “Nothing is impossible. They are the best team in Europe but we have to try.

“To qualify for Europe it will be a fantastic season. If we don’t qualify it will be a good season.”

Coleman stressed importance of Goodison faithful

Everton right-back Seamus Coleman also spoke to the press, telling Sky Sports: “We can’t underestimate the difference the fans made today.

“We have been crying out for it all season. It is no excuse for our home form but it is just so great to see fans back. It makes a difference to our performances, without a shadow of a doubt.

“We had a few chances to win the game by even more. It is frustrating our form was it was but we have another chance against Manchester City. We will give it a go.”
