Angry Man Utd star told by teammates to switch agent to secure exit
Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United team-mates reportedly advised him to change agent in a bid to force a move out of Old Trafford.
The £35million midfielder has told current representative Guido Albers that he no longer requires his services after a frank exchange last weekend, according to Sportsmail. Van de Beek had hoped his agent would have secured him an end to his Old Trafford nightmare by now.
However, with no move forthcoming, conversations with other United players convinced him to appoint a new representative.
The 24-year-old has now signed up with Ali Dursun, who also looks after Victor Lindelof, as well as Holland teammate Frenkie de Jong.
Van de Beek is desperate to quit Old Trafford, having made only four Premier League starts under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since arriving from Ajax in the summer of 2020.
Sportsmail adds that talks with Everton and Wolves recently took place over a January loan move, However, it appears that Dursun is looking to secure a permanent exit his client.
Van de Beek has scored just once in 39 appearances for the Red Devils.
Man Utd cool interest in managerial target
Meanwhile, Man Utd have cooled their interest in a managerial target due to his immense starting demands, according to a report.
Club chiefs have been sounding out potential replacements for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week. The Norwegian has come under fire in the aftermath of the 5-0 thrashing by rivals Liverpool.
Solskjaer and his backroom staff have been slammed for not being up to the job. The Man Utd players have also come in for criticism, with Paul Scholes suggesting that Paul Pogba should not appear in the club’s strip again.
A number of well-known managers have been linked with Solskjaer’s job. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is among them. The Northern Irishman has made Leicester genuine top-four contenders over the past few seasons.
Ajax’s Erik ten Hag is under consideration too. The 51-year-old has received plaudits for his attractive style of play in Holland.
Conte asking for the earth
However, it is Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino who are the top targets. Conte is a free agent after leaving Inter in May. He had just guided them to the Serie A title but was disillusioned with the club’s idea of selling star players.
Pochettino has been in charge of PSG since the turn of the year. However, the former Tottenham man has always been attracted by the prospect of managing Man Utd.
The Daily Star now provide an update on the managerial pursuit. They claim that Conte is less likely to take over due to his massive wage demands.
The Italian wants a long-term contract worth £18million per season to replace Solskjaer. He is also intent on bringing a whole new backroom team to Old Trafford.
That would mean the Red Devils would have to part with coaches such as Michael Carrick and Mike Phelan. It would cost a huge amount of money due to compensation and would completely uproot the club’s future plans.
