Arsenal urged to back away, as transfer target told he would be major flop

Arsenal should withdraw their transfer interest in Andrea Belotti because the striker would struggle in the Premier League, according to one agent.

Arsenal have made a lot of the big headlines in the early stages of this summer’s transfer window. Despite starting on the wrong foot by losing out on Emiliano Buendia, they have stepped up talks with Brighton centre-back Ben White. Furthermore, a deal for midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga looks close.

Elsewhere, talk has grown of a potential new addition in attack for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Eddie Nketiah –  who has links with Brighton as part of the deal for White – has also received West Ham interest. Alexandre Lacazette could depart too, as he has a year left on his contract but no extension is in sight.

As for who could come in, though, Torino striker Belotti has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old scored 13 goals and set up seven others in 35 Serie A games last season. The Italy international has also featured in three of four Euro 2020 games so far.

Speaking to Torino Granata (via Sport Witness), football agent Giulio Tedeschi has warned that Belotti should not make the move to England.

“In my opinion Belotti has the characteristics of an ‘Italian’ striker suitable for Serie A, and this is certainly not to diminish him since I think the Italian league is the most difficult from a tactical point of view,” the agent said.

“But I don’t think he could do it in the Premier League. A huge difference.

“The rumour has also circulated here in England, but it is a hypothesis that I would feel excluded.

“The Gunners are looking for a left winger on the market and in attack, on paper, they already have players who are very suitable for Arteta’s game.”

Belotti has scored 98 goals and assisted 25 others in 248 Serie A appearances.

Arsenal make Locatelli transfer bid

Meanwhile, Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that Arsenal have made an offer for midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

Like Belotti, the Italy international is starring at Euro 2020 and has attracted significant attention.

While Juventus are also in the hunt, Arsenal currently lead the way.
