Arteta shares Solskjaer verdict after escaping Man Utd position with Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has shared his verdict on the pressure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing at Manchester United following a similar experience with Arsenal.

Arteta was under intense scrutiny in August after a dismal start to the season. Three straight losses with no goals scored put him favourite in the Premier League sack race – a position which Solskjaer now finds himself in.

However, calls for Arteta’s head have significantly decreased after a positive run of results – which is exactly what the United boss needs, according to his counterpart.

Speaking at his press conference, Arteta said: “It’s always about the results. We all know that and the rest it doesn’t really matter.

“When you are having difficulty getting results it’s the same for everybody.

“It’s not a nice moment for those who are going through that.”

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions. They are now level on points with the Red Devils, too.

Solskjaer position has been maintained for now. But just two wins in their last seven games needs urgently addressing.

And as per Arteta, that is the only thing that will save him from losing his job, something which he has seen first hand.

Injury updates for Leicester

Arteta also touched on Arsenal’s team news ahead of their Premier League encounter at Leicester in the early kick-off on Saturday.

He said: “There’s been a few of them that haven’t been able to train. We picked some knocks during the game against Leeds. Hopefully today we will have better news.”

One of those who went off against Leeds was Ben White, on whom Arteta said: “He hasn’t trained yet so we will have to see how he’s feeling and see how he is.”

Kieran Tierney missed the Carabao Cup win altogether with injury. The update on the left-back was: “He’s progressing training.

“Let’s see how he is today. He felt a bit better last few days but he wasn’t 100% to start the other day. We’ll see how he is in the last 48 hours.”

When asked about Martin Odegaard, who was also absent, Arteta added: “Well he came back a little bit late don’t forget that.

“He had an injury in pre-season, he picked up an injury recently as well.”
