While Villa were active in the winter market, their admiration for the versatile forward hasn’t waned.
As City navigate a crowded squad, Marmoush is said to be weighing his options in search of a fresh challenge where he can command a starting role.
Aston Villa’s interest in Omar Marmoush
Speaking on Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke shed light on the long-standing interest from the West Midlands club.
He noted that Villa’s recruitment team has been tracking the Egyptian for some time.
“There was a bit of interest in Marmoush in the January window from a few clubs,” O’Rourke explained.
“Aston Villa looked at it before they signed Tammy Abraham, and I’m sure there’ll be clubs at home or abroad who would be looking at the Egyptian in the summer window if the player himself does feel the need to move on.”
However, O’Rourke warned that pryng him away from the reigning champions won’t be cheap.
“It’s not an easy deal to do. He’s got three years left on his contract and City did spend big money when they signed him from Frankfurt.”

Marmoush has struggled for minutes
Despite his undeniable talent and explosive pace, Marmoush has found it difficult to displace the established stars in Pep Guardiola’s lineup.
Since his high-profile arrival from the Bundesliga, the forward has seen his playing time limited to domestic cup rotations and late-game cameos.
For a player who arrived in England with a reputation as one of Europe’s most clinical transitional threats, the lack of rhythm has been a frustration.
This season, he has started only seven games in the Premier League and two in the Champions League. In terms of output, in 33 appearances, he has scored seven goals and assisted another three.
Aston Villa, who are likely to book their spot in the Champions League for the second consecutive season, could offer Marmoush the platform he needs to replicate the form that originally made him a superstar in Germany.
With the summer window approaching, all eyes are on whether Villa Park will be his next destination.
