Conflicting Salah reports claim Real Madrid offer top star in part-exchange as agent jets in

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to launch an audacious bid to try and sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, despite talk of the player’s agent flying to England to finalise a new contract for the Anfield star.

Salah has been back to his sublime best this season and had an assist for Sadio Mane before scoring a stunning solo goal of his own in Saturday’s 5-0 win at Watford. That strike made it 10 in 10 games for the Egypt international so far this term.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believes that on current form, Salah is the best player on the planet. However, he is unlikely to win the Ballon d’Or, despite being nominated.

Salah’s existing contract runs until 2023 but he is yet to agree an extension on Merseyside.

And now journalist Ekrem Konur claims that Real want to test Liverpool’s resolve and are willing to offer the Premier League side cash plus Hazard to get the deal done.

While Salah has gone from strength to strength since moving back to England, Hazard’s move to Spain has turned into a nightmare.

The Belgium playmaker was brilliant at Chelsea. However, a series of injuries and a loss of form has blighted his time at the Bernabeu.

Konur has not revealed a price for Salah, although Hazard’s €100million value has dropped significantly, which would mean Real having to shell out a significant sum in addition to the Belgian for Salah.

At this stage, it remains highly unlikely that Liverpool would accept such a proposal. Indeed, Hazard is 18 months older than Salah and with his injury issues would represent a massive gamble.

However, the Reds ace could force the club’s hand if he continues to snub new deal talks.

But that is where Sunday’s reports are conflicted, as the Sunday Mirror claims that Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, jetted into England on Saturday.

Rumours suggest that Salah is close to penning a new £500,000-a-week deal that will delight Anfield supporters.

After their troubles last season, the Reds have looked back to their best so far this campaign. They currently sit second in the table behind Chelsea and are unbeaten in eight games.

Salah signing up for another long-term deal would be huge for Liverpool. Indeed, they have made keeping their star names a top priority recently.

The likes of Jordan Henderson, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho have all committed themselves to the club over the past few months.
