Crystal Palace hopes appear crushed should Tuchel heed pundit’s advice over star

Any hope of Crystal Palace keeping loanee Conor Gallagher long-term could be crushed, should Thomas Tuchel heed the advice of Tony Cascarino.

Gallagher has had a breakout season with Palace, contributing to 13 goals in all competitions. Indeed, his haul of eight goals makes him the Eagles’ second-top goalscorer this term.

His best haul of goals in a single season before now was six, when he was playing for Charlton in the Championship. The form Gallagher has hit for Palace has been good for both him, and the club.

The Eagles have given the attacking-midfielder an opportunity to prove himself in the top flight. As such, they might hope that they can land Gallagher long-term, or at least for another season.

Former Chelsea man Cascarino, however, feels his parent club should give him an opportunity next season.

“Conor Gallagher will get goals. Whether or not he will get his chance at Chelsea, I don’t know. No one at Chelsea can do what he does, but it depends if Thomas Tuchel wants to play that kind of player in his system,” he said on talkSPORT.

“I hope he does give him a chance.”

Indeed, Gallagher has shown his quality this term. Furthermore, winning player of the match on his second England appearance can do no him no harm whatsoever.

Gallagher and Chelsea star Mason Mount started together for England at the weekend.

That game was a good chance to give Tuchel a glimpse of how things could work at Chelsea next season.

Cascarino feels Gallagher would thrive at Liverpool

Clearly, Cascarino is a big admirer of Gallagher, as he raved about the 22-year-old’s ability.

“Conor Gallagher is an outstanding attacking midfielder who always looks like he’s going to get a goal or make an assist,” he said.

“I like him because I don’t think there’s too many of his type around.”

While he thinks Chelsea should give him a chance, the pundit also mentioned how he thinks Gallagher could thrive at Liverpool.

“Liverpool, for me, if they had a player like that as well adding him behind their front three, with his ability to get goals.

“Chelsea would never sell him to Liverpool, but they’d do really well with him.”

While that may be the case, it is unlikely that Chelsea would let the exciting young talent go. Whether or not Tuchel includes him in Chelsea’s squad next season is another question, though.
