Double threat on horizon for Leicester as CL duo line up for flattered player

Leicester City could be deprived of a 2020 signing after learning of two clubs that are interested in their man, according to reports.

The Foxes have finished fifth in consecutive Premier League seasons, meaning several of their players have impressed. But if Leicester struggle to punch above their weight in the long term, they could be at risk of losing some of their top talent.

One player who is already generating transfer interest despite only joining a year ago is Timothy Castagne. According to DH Net, the former Atalanta full-back has two admirers back in Italy.

The website claims Juventus and Inter Milan are keeping an eye on the Belgium international in case his gametime does not increase at the King Power Stadium.

Currently, he mainly competes with Ricardo Pereira for a place at right-back. He is also capable of playing on the opposite side of defence, so still has opportunities for minutes. But he has only started two Premier League games so far this season.

Castagne is not currently concerned and is willing to wait to prove himself in the Premier League. He still has a contract until 2025 with Leicester.

However, he is said to be flattered by the interest from Juventus and Inter Milan. The former in particular could offer him more guarantees of regular gametime.

Juventus are looking to phase out Juan Cuadrado, who has been sharing gametime with former Manchester City full-back Danilo this season. There is a sense that Castagne would be a better option than either of them.

He has been on their radar for a while and therefore they could be waiting for a chance to pounce. It would likely have to take a decent offer for Leicester to consider selling, but much would depend on how much he plays between now and the next transfer market.

Leicester’s other options in either full-back position are Pereira, James Justin (currently injured), Ryan Bertrand and Luke Thomas.

Castagne started 27 Premier League games in his debut season in the competition last term. He will be aiming for a similar amount this year, or else his future could be called into question.

More Leicester stars linked away

Castagne’s exit links come shortly after one of his teammates for club and country was also tipped to seek pastures new.

Midfielder Youri Tielemans is of interest to Real Madrid, according to reports from El Nacional.

Tielemans was a major coup for Leicester when they signed him from Monaco. Now, they face a battle to keep him away from the bigger clubs they were competing with for his signature.

It has been claimed that Carlo Ancelotti is a major admirer of Tielemans. The Real Madrid boss, who was at Everton last season, wants to upgrade his midfield options.

Tielemans could even take the place of Casemiro, who has been a mainstay in the centre of the park for Los Blancos in recent years.

His time may be running out as a regular starter under Ancelotti though. Therefore, Tielemans could move to Madrid to become a long-term successor.

Leicester will be hoping they can have another memorable season to convince some of their top stars to stay.
