€30m striker with 32 goals pushing for summer Arsenal transfer

Genk striker Paul Onuachu has set his sights on a summer move to Arsenal, according to a report in Belgium.

Nigerian striker Onuachu, 26, has had a season to savour in the Belgian top flight. He has scored 29 goals in 33 Jupiler Pro League and has 32 goals and three assists in all competitions this season. The right-footed attacker is certainly in the form of his life and has apparently targeted a move to The Emirates.

Belgian outlet Voetbal Belgie says the striker “hopes to end up at Arsenal”. And the report claims Genk could well be willing to sell the striker, who is under contract until 2024.

Onuachu signed from FC Midtjylland for €6m euros in August 2019 and he has steadily improved his goal output after 10 goals last season.

Genk are understood to be ready to cash in and are hoping for a fee of €30m for the right-footed forward, who has 10 caps for Nigeria.

Arsenal could well be in the market for a striker this summer.

Lacazette future doubt

There is a big question mark over the future of Alexandre Lacazette, while Eddie Nketiah’s contract is expiring in 2022. Neither are close to signing extensions with West Ham believed to be keen on the latter.

Lacazette’s contract at The Emirates also expires in the summer of 2022 and the forward has admitted talks have been strained.

Last month Lacazette said: “My plan is to win a trophy with the club this season and it would be easy for me to pretend to have a contract extension.

“Everything is not only on my side, there is also the club, the manager. There are different things we have to think about.

“I don’t think it’s the right moment to talk about it.”

To complicate matters the striker is also currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. He has not featured for the Gunners since limping off in the draw with Fulham on April 18.

Mikel Arteta has said it’s unlikely Lacazette will be involved against Villarreal on Thursday.

And Speaking in April, Arteta said: “The situation with Laca will get addressed in the summer.

“I will speak to him and just propose a future that we want and that’s it.

“Now I just want players focused and only focused on performing and getting the best out of them for the team.”
