‘Eager’ Arsenal eye €40m raid for Leeds-linked Dutchman already in talks

Arsenal remain ‘eager’ to sign a Leeds United-linked winger and could launch a January approach, though talks are reportedly already underway with a third suitor, per multiple reports.

Leeds United were linked with a variety of attacking options to bolster their forward ranks over the summer. The Whites ultimately settled on Daniel James, signing the ex-Manchester United winger for £25m.

One player who had been mooted prior to James’ arrival was Noa Lang. The 22-year-old Dutchman was shipped out to Club Brugge on loan from Ajax last year and grasped his opportunity with both hands.

He notched 14 goals and eight assists in 24 league outings. A permanent switch followed, and Lang has continue his good form in the current campaign.

While links with Leeds still persist, rumours of Arsenal interest had begun to swell since the window closed..

The Gunners are poised to lose Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette to free agency next summer. Lang, valued around the €40m mark, could be a viable replacement in their frontline.

Now, online outlet Goal (citing Calciomercato) reveal Arsenal remain ‘eager’ to land the forward.

Furthermore, it’s claimed the Gunners are ‘considering an approach for Lang in the new year’. It is, however, acknowledged that his €40m price tag could prove difficult to overcome.

Another potential barrier to their progress stems from a third potential suitor.

SempreMilan (citing La Gazzetta dello Sport) claim Serie A powerhouse AC Milan are in the frame.

In further bad news for Mikel Arteta’s side, it’s revealed Milan have already made ‘initial contacts’ with the player’s agent through a ‘meeting at the club’s headquarters yesterday’.

Lang’s stellar form recently saw him called up to the Dutch national side by Louis van Gaal. He could be in line to make his senior debut in the World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Gibraltar next week.

Arsenal urged to sign striker that bullied Van Dijk

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been told to do all in their power to bring in Ivan Toney to the club, with one observer insisting he is far better than two transfer options shortlisted by technical director Edu.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both poised to leave, thoughts are turning to the signing of a new striker.

Reports over the weekend saw Arsenal linked with Andrea Belotti and veteran Israeli Eran Zahavi.

However, technical director Edu reportedly prefers to sign a Premier League based player. To that end, the Arsenal guru was said to fancy one of a big-money raid for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa. Deals for either would cost in excess of £50m.

However, pundit Darren Bent insists there is a better options out there and explained why Bees striker Toney would be perfect.
