Euro Paper Talk: Arsenal steam ahead for eye-catching signing as Liverpool, Tottenham lag; Madrid star headed for Prem

Arsenal have moved ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham for a star attacking signing, while a Real Madrid man is headed for the Premier League – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

ARSENAL LEADING CODY GAKPO RACE

PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo is a firm transfer target for Arsenal, who are leading the race to sign him according to a report.

The 22-year-old has emerged as the latest exciting Dutch winger off the PSV academy assembly line after Steven Bergwijn.

And he could yet follow the Tottenham man’s footsteps with a move to the Premier League.

Previous reports revealed that Liverpool and Arsenal had accelerated interest in Gakpo ahead of the summer.

But as well as Arsenal and the Reds, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also considering a move.

According to the latest from Voetbal International, the Gunners lead the race for Gakpo.

Indeed, the report claims that Mikel Arteta’s side are the ‘frontrunners’ for the four-cap Netherlands international.

While he only extended his contract until 2026 in January, that is unlikely to stop PSV cashing in for a significant profit in the summer.

Arsenal are in need of attacking reinforcements this summer, hence the interest. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Barcelona in January and Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are increasingly likely to follow him out as free agents in the summer.

Gakpo has scored 16 goals and assisted 15 others in 37 games in all competitions this season.
