Euro Paper Talk: Leeds eye bargain £5.85m swoop for centre-back; Liverpool striker in touch with Serie A giants

Leeds could get a new centre-back for £5.85m this summer with Koln looking to sell, while AC Milan are in touch with a Liverpool striker, all in Euro Paper Talk.

Leeds United are one of the clubs who could well profit from the financial situation at FC Koln.

The Bundesliga side are around €85m in the red after the coronavirus pandemic and may well have to sell players this summer.

BILD, via Sport Witness, reports that one such player could well be centre-back Timo Hübers.

The German outlet claims the 25-year-old’s “strong performances” have stirred interest in the UK. And Hubers is “likely to leave the club” if Koln were to receive an “immoral offer”.

An offer of around £5.85m could be enough to tempt the Bundesliga side to sell. The player’s contract will enter the final 12 months this summer and they face the prospect of losing him for free.

Koln sit eighth in the table and the club’s new sports boss Christian Keller only has a summer budget of €46m or £38m so they will have to wheel and deal in the market.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton and Championship leaders Fulham are also interested.
