EXCLUSIVE: Everton to usher in new era in attack, with scouts working hard on ironic transfer

Everton have long been linked with their namesake forward Everton and they are now looking at a prospective summer deal for the Brazilian international, TEAMtalk understands.

The 26-year-old, who is currently with Benfica having joined from Gremio in 2020, was strongly linked with a move to the Premier League before his move to Portugal. Various clubs were tipped to take him to English football for the first time.

His choice of next club after the move to Europe seems to have been a good one, though. To date, he has played 91 times for Benfica, contributing 15 goals and 18 assists.

That includes a tally of seven goals and seven assists from 43 appearances across all competitions this season.

Recently, he featured as a starter against Everton’s rivals Liverpool in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final. He will be on Merseyside for the second leg on Wednesday.

Now with the likes of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin looking likely to depart Goodison Park, Everton are looking at other options.

After a challenging season, the Toffees are hovering above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Regardless of their status for next season, there have been rumours that they could cash in on their under-firing strikers.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injury issues this season. He is yet to add to the three goals he scored in August, since returning from injury in January.

In his absence, Richarlison has hardly been prolific either. The Brazilian has scored seven goals across all competitions this season, but a brace against Burnley last week represented his only league goals since the start of February.

Everton could succeed Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison

That said, both he and Calvert-Lewin remain marketable players whom they could cash in on. There have been several transfer links regarding the duo recently.

In turn, they would then have to reinvest in their forward line.

We can reveal that Everton are planning ahead, and Everton Soares is a player their scouts have worked hard on and they are doing work on a prospective summer move.

Benfica have the Brazil international under contract until 2025. In theory, that means he is supposed to be theirs for another three seasons.

But the club that shares his name could now test their resolve.
