Familiar suitor back in for Arsenal star but replacement isn’t too far away

Alexandre Lacazette has once again been linked with Atletico Madrid – and a separate report has suggested Arsenal are looking at a striker from the Spanish club in return.

Lacazette was a major target for Atletico last summer, when there was talk of a swap deal with Thomas Partey. In the end, only the Ghanaian swapped clubs and Lacazette remained in north London. However, his future has come into question again since then.

Little over a year remains on his contract, putting Arsenal in a precarious position. They wouldn’t want to lose him for free but would also be concerned about handing him a big contract.

Atletico may be willing to present them an offer to stop their deliberations, though. According to Fichajes, Diego Simeone still wants to take Lacazette to the Spanish capital.

Moussa Dembele has not lived up to expectations at Wanda Metropolitano, partially due to fitness issues. Therefore, they will not sign him permanently after his loan from Lyon ends.

Instead, they could turn to his compatriot Lacazette. It is not yet clear how much Arsenal may want for him, but Atletico could test their resolve.

Coincidentally, Arsenal could try to sign Dembele as a replacement. They have been monitoring him for quite some time and would be able to offer him more minutes than Atletico have.

According to The Telegraph, Lyon want around £25m for Dembele and Arsenal could make a move. He would help replace Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, who is also set to leave.

The Gunners would be hoping he could rediscover the form he showed with Lyon, and before that, Celtic.

A current Celtic striker is also on their radar, but it is Leicester City who are currently leading the race for Odsonne Edouard.

Leicester confident of Edouard deal

TEAMtalk revealed last week that Leicester are confident they will complete the signing of Edouard this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is a huge fan of the Frenchman following their spell together at Parkhead and he gave the greenlight to his bosses to pursue a deal earlier this year. Now, Leicester believe that they have fended off a host of clubs to land the 23-year-old.

Edouard has one year left on his current deal which he signed in 2018 arriving from Paris Saint Germain for just over £6m following a successful loan spell.

He has since cemented his place as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards and has been linked to a host of clubs including Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and even with a return to PSG.

But sources with knowledge of the situation have told us that Edouard is almost certainly heading to the King Power.
