Identity of Leeds’ mystery target possibly exposed after huge revelation

Leeds United have received a huge boost from one of their reported targets as they look to strengthen their midfield as an immediate priority in the transfer market.

The Whites have already made three signings in the summer window. The first order of business was to make Jack Harrison’s loan move from Manchester City permanent. The 24-year-old is one of Marcelo Bielsa’s most trusted players and has made 128 appearances for the club in his last three seasons on-loan.

Next to join the Yorkshire outfit was Birmingham teenager Amari Miller. The 18-year-old was being closely followed by a number of Premier League sides and is a promising talent for the future.

Then earlier this week it was announced Junior Firpo had made the switch from Barcelona to Elland Road, replacing the recently departed Ezgjan Alioski.

No time is being wasted by Victor Orta in the transfer market. Indeed, he has now reportedly turned his attention to finding a central midfielder.

What’s more, according to the report, Leeds are fully focused on their ‘top target’ and have held talks with the player.

The identity of the midfielder is unknown. One man it possibly could be, though, is Huesca’s Kelechi Nwakali.

Leeds were last week said to be considering the former Arsenal youth player as an option. Nwakali, 23, spent three years with the Gunners before leaving for Spain in 2019.

And now in the latest update the Nigerian is said to be fancying a return to England. That’s according to The Telegraph.

This new report claims Bournemouth and Watford are also interested in him. Huesca are supposedly hoping for a £15m fee.

Orta’s vast knowledge of the Spanish market is said to have brought Nwakali onto his and Bielsa’s radar.

If required, the director of football has shown he has a strong way with words when securing new signings.

Goalkeeper also on Orta’s agenda

Meanwhile, Kiko Casilla is closing on his exit at Leeds. He will undergo a medical at Elche in the coming days – and Orta reportedly soon hopes to sign a replacement.

The Spaniard has endured a mixed career at Elland Road after signing from Real Madrid in January 2019.

While he spent a full year as the club’s No 1, he then faced a racism charge and a subsequent eight-game ban.

During his absence, Illan Meslier seized his chance and has become the club’s undisputed first-choice stopper.
