Liverpool man will be ‘thinking about his future’ this summer, insists pundit
Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino will be “thinking about his future” this summer, according to pundit Danny Mills.
The 27-year-old, who was loaned to Southampton last season, has struggled for minutes in the Premier League. The Japan international has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring nine times. But he has only featured 10 times in the league and is yet to start a game this season.
Minamino scored twice in the 2-1 win over Norwich City last week as the Reds moved to the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds boss was delighted with the £7.25m signing.
“He was a constant threat tonight, he was mobile, he was quick. He was technically on an incredibly high level,” said Klopp.
But Minamino, along with Diogo Jota and Divock Origi were all axed from the starting XI as Liverpool beat West Ham on Sunday. Instead Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and new signing Luis Diaz started at Anfield.
And Diaz looks to have climbed above Minamino in the pecking order, after arriving initially for £37m, with the fee potentially rising to £49m.
Former ex-Man City and England full-back Danny Mills, speaking to Football Insider thinks Minamino will have a decision to make this summer.

Minamino has two years on his contract
“It hasn’t quite worked out for him at Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.
“He hasn’t quite got up to that level and hasn’t really had enough opportunities or he hasn’t been able to force enough opportunities to play regularly.
“Yes, he’ll be disappointed. I know he’s been part of the squad but he will want more game time.
“I’m sure he will want to play. And as he is not then I’m pretty sure he’ll be thinking about his future.”
Minamino is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2024.
