Liverpool target with blistering goals record ‘definitely’ leaving, but new fee claimed

Liverpool transfer target Karim Adeyemi will “definitely” leave RB Salzburg next summer, but a new fee has emerged via a transfer journalist.

The Reds have had links with a move for the 19-year-old over the past few months. His recent rise with Germany has also helped his cause and seen him attract interest.

Liverpool’s links with a move for Adeyemi make sense. The Reds and Salzburg play a similar way and with similar ideals and Liverpool subsequently poached Salzburg for Takumi Minamino in January 2020.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane learned his trade at Salzburg, from where Jurgen Klopp tracked his progress.

Previous reports claimed that Salzburg want £17million for Adeyemi. That would represent significant profit on the player they bought from SpVgg Unterhaching in July 2018.

However, according to Sky Germany, they are now looking at making even more profit.

Reporter Marc Behrenbeck told the publication that the Austrian club are seeking between €30million (£29million) and €40million (£34million).

In any case, though, the journalist added that Adeyemi will “definitely” leave Salzburg next summer.

The forward has three years left on his contract, following his extension in January 2020.

But amid the links with Liverpool, former Bayern Munich academy starlet Adeyemi has admitted that he has interest in a move back to the Bundesliga champions.

He said recently: “If [Bayern] made me an offer, I think I would choose that path. I want to show them what I can do, who I am and that it was a mistake to let me go. That motivates me.”

Adeyemi has already netted 11 goals and assisted two others in 16 games this season.

Bayern’s German rivals Wolfsburg also reportedly have interest and had a move rejected by Salzburg.

Transfer interest in Adeyemi growing

Sky Germany reporter Behrenbeck added in his report that Adeyemi has a potential career plan lined up.

“We know that all three top clubs from Germany – Bavaria, [Borussia] Dortmund and [RB] Leipzig – spoke to the Adeyemi side,” he said.

“There were specific discussions in which figures were exchanged.

“There are also inquiries from England. Liverpool recently asked again. Poker is open.

“It is also clear that Adeyemi’s career plan includes taking the next step in the Bundesliga. before he might go abroad again.”

Liverpool’s front line may soon need refreshing. While tying Mohamed Salah down to a new contract is a priority, there is no word on whether Mane or Roberto Firmino – whose deals also expire in 2023 – will stay.
