Man Utd in talks to offer new contracts to quartet as Solskjaer plots Premier League title charge

Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer new contracts to four first-team stars, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to build a squad he hopes can lead the club to Premier League glory.

The Red Devils enjoyed an impressive summer of transfer business, bringing in world-class performers Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane and also adding exciting England winger Jadon Sancho. However, their focus now seems to be on nailing down some of their top stars to lucrative new deals.

According to reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are ready to strike new deals with four players.

Jesse Lingard, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba are the named quartet, with only Lingard not a regular starter.

Romano states that the club are embroiled in talks with the England midfielder, who scored a memorable winner at West Ham on Sunday.

As things stand Lingard has already rejected United’s opening offer. However, Solskjaer is taking an active part in proceedings to get a deal over the line.

Man Utd following Liverpool lead

Lingard currently has one year left on his deal and has been strongly linked with a return to West Ham. The 28-year-old excelled on loan at the London Stadium last season.

Another player in a similar contractual predicament is Pogba.

The France star has been linked to LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. PSG are also said to be keen, but old club Juventus look to have cooled their interest.

Both Fernandes and Shaw have plenty of time left on their existing deals. The Portugal playmaker is tied down until 2026, while England left-back Shaw’s current deal runs out in 2024.

However, the feeling at Old Trafford is that both players should be rewarded for their outstanding efforts over the past two seasons.

United appear to be following the tactic of rivals Liverpool. The Anfield outfit have tied down a number of top names in the last couple of months.

Solskjaer’s men have made an impressive start to the new season and currently sit third in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool.
