Man Utd join chasing pack for rising star in further big blow for Tottenham

Manchester United have joined the chasing pack for rising star and Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic, a report has claimed.

Vlahovic, 21, has emerged onto the scene in a similar vein to Erling Haaland. His goalscoring exploits have put top teams on alert, and there will soon be a great battle to sign him. Spurs have made him their priority for a new attacker.

Newcastle scouted him in the last international break, while Man City have long been mentioned in the conversation.

Now the Premier League trio have company in the form of the Red Devils. According to the Daily Mail, they’ve began watching the Serbia international closely.

Other parties from outside of England who are also in the hunt are Juventus and AC Milan.

But previous suggestions have been that Fiorentina would rather not sell to one of their Serie A rivals.

Vlahovic will certainly be off at some point, though. His deal is up in 2023, and several contract extension offers have been knocked back.

A record of 12 goals and three assists in just 14 matches so far this season shows why he is so highly-regarded. A price tag of around £60-70m has been suggested.

Spurs were eager to get Vlahovic through the door in January. That would give him time to settle in before next season.

But the striker told Telegraf.rs that he is planning to stay in Florence for the remainder of this season to help the Viola into Europe.

Following a 4-3 win over AC at the weekend, they sit just outisde the European spots on goal difference.

“We are all working hard and want to get back into Europe, because Fiorentina haven’t played in Europe for many years and it’d be a great success for the club,” he said.

“I think this group of players and staff deserves it. And we’ll do our best to achieve some of the objectives we have set for ourselves.

“I have reached a level in football where every little detail counts. So I am very careful with my nutrition and training routine.”

Heir to Ronaldo’s throne?

United are actively exploring attacking options with the knowledge that Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, has limited playing time left.

Vlahovic is of course lightyears away from reaching the level of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. But he fits the same mould of player.

Both of his two goals against AC last Saturday were scored with his favoured left foot. But he is competent in the air and with his right too.

And four of his league goals this season have been penalties. His coolness from the spot is another similarity to Ronaldo.
