Man Utd, Man City given hope as Villa starlet ‘rejects’ new deal
A report claims Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka will not sign a new deal at the club, paving the way for both Manchester clubs to make a move.
The 18-year-old is on the radar of a number of high-profile clubs. That is despite a lack of exposure to top-flight football with the Villans. The 18-year-old moved to Villa Park in March 2016, joining the club’s academy.
He signed his first professional contract in July 2020 and made his senor debut in May 2021 against Tottenham. The Austrian-born ace enjoyed his first start for the club in a 1-1 draw with Brentford back in August.
But that remains his only outing in 2021-2022 to date. Chukwuemeka’a displays for the Under-23 side have caught the eye.
And his talent has also been recognised at international level, with five England Under-19 caps under his belt. The talented schemer played for the Three Lions youngster in their recent qualifiers, scoring against Andorra.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been linked. But they have rivals in Germany as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also known to be keen.
The former Northampton town youth star is under contract with the West Midlanders until the summer of 2023. Villa want to tie him down to a new deal but it seems as though negotiations have hit a brick wall.
That is because he is becoming increasingly frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities, according to a report by talkSPORT. They add that he has no intention of penning fresh terms and is hoping for a new challenge.
Manchester not the answer for Chukwuemeka
There is no question that Chukwuemeka could become a real superstar of the sport. He has all the attributes needed but now requires a platform to display them.
But moving o Old Trafford or the Etihad would lead to the same problems. Both teams are packed full of world-class stars and it seems highly unlikely Chukwuemeka would get a look in at present.

That might not be the case with Dortmund, who have shown time and again a willingness to throw in youngsters. English players such as Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have benefited from a stint with BVB.
It is a mutually beneficial arrangement as their value soars and the Bundesliga outfit make a tidy profit. New Villa chief Steven Gerrard will now have a decision to make over the youngster.
He could be a star of the future at Villa Park but his patience is running thin.
