Man Utd Spanish raid back on after star’s impressive Nations League finals

A Manchester United transfer involving a Spanish giant is once again a possibility after an impressive Nations League finals for one star player.

The final four of the mini tournament which separates the major tournaments consisted of Belgium, Italy, Spain and France. That made for a star-studded conclusion. All of the quartet have teams packed with world-class players. But it was the French who reigned victorious to add to their 2018 World Cup trophy.

One man who stood out in both the semi-final and final was United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Manager Didier Deschamps tasked him with commanding the middle of the pitch in both games. And he did exactly that.

The 28-year-old was so influential, in fact, that it has prompted one of his potential suitors to intensify their interest in him.

Pogba is of course out of contract at the end of the current season. A number of top European sides are keeping a close eye on him.

And according to AS, Real Madrid have stepped up their pursuit in recent days.

Los Blancos have been linked with Pogba in the past. They were named in connection with him only earlier this year, too.

But having watched him closely in the matches against Belgium and Spain, Real have now revived their interest.

Robinho, Eto’o or Johnson? Which example will Newcastle follow with their newly acquired wealth?

They are named alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus as the main contenders at present. Barcelona have also been rumoured in the past.

His current club, the Red Devils, have supposedly given Pogba a deadline of Christmas for him to give them a decision on his future.

He has until then to sign a new contract at Old Trafford. If not, it seems they will cash in come the winter window to avoid losing him for free next summer.

United remain hopeful of Pogba stay

One factor that could aid the Manchester club’s chances of retaining Pogba could come from signing fellow countryman, Aurelien Tchouameni.

The 21-year-old combative midfielder is already a regular for his national side. He often plays alongside Pogba.

Central midfield remains the area many believe is holding Man Utd back from achieving their true ambitions.

But per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United have installed Tchouameni on their transfer shortlist. This is after they initially dismissed the notion they were interested over the summer.
