Ndombele risks missing out on preferred move as Tottenham agree exit terms with new bidder

Tanguy Ndombele is reflecting on his options after Valencia reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to take him on loan, according to reports.

Ndombele has not played for Tottenham since January 9th, when he was booed off the pitch in an FA Cup win over Morecambe. He has been training alone since as the club try to offload him.

They will not be able to get anywhere near the club-record fee they paid for him in 2019. Therefore, a loan exit looks likely for the midfielder.

Reports last week revealed Paris Saint-Germain are trying to take him on such terms. A deal would reunite him with former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Ndombele’s preference is to join PSG, which would mark a return to Ligue 1 after his previous spell with Lyon. However, there have been some obstacles in the way of the move.

Attempts to orchestrate a swap deal have not bore fruit, while there are doubts over PSG paying his full wages. They would need to offload one of their own midfielders first to do so.

In the meantime, Telefoot are reporting that Valencia have swooped in with an offer for Ndombele.

They want to take the 25-year-old to La Liga for the first time in his career. And Telefoot claim they have agreed terms with Tottenham for a loan deal.

The decision now rests with Ndombele, who still favours a move to PSG. But if they cannot put a deal in place, he will have to give more serious thought to Valencia’s proposal.

Valencia are currently 10th in La Liga, but have an outside chance of pushing for European qualification.

Signing someone of Ndombele’s pedigree, even if he hasn’t lived up to expectations at Tottenham, would help.

They will need to convince him to ditch his original PSG plan, though, if they are to secure his services before the end of the January transfer window.

Tottenham make progress for Ndombele replacement

Once Ndombele is out of the way, it should allow Tottenham to replenish their midfield with a signing of their own.

Reports have indicated that the man to fill the void will be Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Moretto, Amrabat emerged on Spurs’ radar in the last week.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Amrabat is keen on a move to Spurs. And although negotiations are at an “advanced” stage, the deal is not done yet.

The transfer is reliant on Spurs pushing Ndombele out. If that deal goes through then Amrabat will become a Spurs player. Both transfers look likely to be loan deals, with the option to buy.
