Paul Pogba confides in close friends after making final Man Utd decision

Paul Pogba has reportedly told his close friends that he wants to sign a new Manchester United contract and extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The France star’s future has continually been a source for debate ever since his agent Mino Raiola suggested his client would look to leave the club, with his contract running down. Indeed, Raiola hinted that the midfielder was open to returning to Juventus, the club he left in order to rejoin United back in 2016.

“Pogba’s contract expires next year. We will talk to Manchester (United) and see,” Raiola said last month.

“For sure Turin has remained in his heart and he cares a lot about these things. The possibility of returning to Juventus is there but it also depends on Juve.”

French giants PSG has also been linked with a move, while Pogba has always ‘dreamed’ of playing for Real Madrid.

However, Pogba has been impressed with the club’s summer recruitment. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho were all headline Old Trafford signings.

And now L’Equipe states that the 28-year-old is making no secret of his desire to stay at United, telling friends that he wants a new deal.

Pogba has been in excellent form early in the new campaign, notching seven Premier League assists in as many games.

The player’s new contract could reportedly net him around £400,000-per-week. That would instantly make him one of the highest-paid players in England’s top flight.

However. that salary is still less than the reported offer PSG were preparing for Pogba, with the Independent claiming a £510,000-per-week deal will be put on the table.

If Pogba does not agree a new deal by January 1 then he will be free to discuss terms on a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.

No Sancho panic

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho not to be too concerned about his slow start to life at Manchester United after being told he’s heading for the top by teammate Luke Shaw.

The 21-year-old finally joined United this summer in a £73m deal – ending a chase of close to three years. However, it’s been a seriously slow start for Sancho, who is yet to score or create a goal in nine appearances so far.

However, Shaw is adamant that Sancho cannot be branded a flop and has told his critics that the player is heading for the top.

“Sometimes, for people, it takes time,” Shaw told talkSPORT, via Metro. “But I wouldn’t say he’s struggling at the moment.

“He’s working extremely hard behind closed doors and training really well and looking really sharp. He just hasn’t had that bit of luck that sometimes you need for your first goal or first assist.

“But I’ve got no doubt in my mind, it’s coming. The talent he has is unbelievable, he can go right to the very top.

“It’s just about him staying focused, keep doing what he’s doing in training and working hard. His time will come.”
