Paul Pogba insists ‘nothing is decided’, but overriding feeling on Man Utd future gains traction

Paul Pogba has reiterated that while he has not made any concrete plans over his future, Manchester United are not offering him what he wants.

The 29-year-old made the headlines in 2016 when re-signing for United from Juventus for £89million. His Old Trafford career started impressively with Europa League triumph in his debut season.

However, that remains Man Utd‘s last trophy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also reached the Europa League final in 2021 but his side lost on penalties.

Pogba has faced struggles for form due to a number of injury problems. Still, in a recent interview, he claimed uncertainty over his role under different managers has also played a big part.

Pogba also revealed he has suffered from depression during his career, starting under Mourinho at Man Utd.

Speaking to Telefoot in another recent interview, he reiterated that he feels Man Utd – who are still in the hunt for a top-four Premier League finish – have nothing left to gain this season. He also insisted that he has not yet made a decision over his future. Pogba’s contract contract expires at the end of the season.

“Nothing is decided on my future, there is nothing done,” the France international said.

“I can decide tomorrow, as I can decide during the transfer window, I want to come back, finish the season well.

“The season is not over yet, but almost because we don’t have any more titles to play for.

“I want to win titles, to play for something and this year and the last few years we haven’t won a title. It’s sad.”

Overall, Pogba has made 229 appearances for United, chipping in with 39 goals and 51 assists.

Pogba should focus on Man Utd top-four chase

United may be staring another trophy-less season in the face and a top-four finish may be below the standards Pogba and his Man Utd team-mates expect.

However, not finishing with Champions League football next season will only crank up the pressure on the club.

United currently sit in sixth, with fifth-placed Tottenham and Arsenal in fourth their main rivals.

The Gunners are currently in the driving seat but still have to play United, Chelsea and Tottenham.

As such, Ralf Rangnick’s side could well get the chance to salvage Champions League football for next season. Either way, though, it does not look like Pogba will be part of the team next season, hence his frustration and lack of motivation.
