Paul Pogba latest: Midfielder receives £8m a year offer as preferred option for departing Man Utd man emerges

Paul Pogba is reportedly on the brink of securing a move to Italy as the sands of time ebb away on his six-season spell at Manchester United.

The World Cup winner – United’s record £89.3m signing – falls out of contract on June 30 and is free to move to any club of his choosing. His time at Old Trafford, though, will not be remembered fondly with the player struggling to find his consistent best.

Indeed, he will hope to get his career back on track by making a clean break from the Red Devils.

As such, a number of big-name clubs have been mentioned as suitors for Pogba. Frequently linked with moves to Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona have, at various times, been touted as a prospective destination.

However, there is also interest from Paris Saint-Germain, which could allow Pogba the chance to play senior football in his homeland for the first time in his career.

Earlier this week Manchester City were strongly linked with the 29-year-old. The move from Old Trafford to the Etihad is not a well-trodden path and such a move would certainly attract a lot of attention.

Indeed, pundit Jamie Redknapp suggested any deal for Pep Guardiola to sign him was a “no brainer”.

However, Pogba has reportedly turned down the move and it seemingly against the idea of staying in the Premier League.

Star taking 50 per cent pay cut

Instead, it now appears that Pogba is on the brink of finalising a return to former club Juventus.

As per the Daily Mirror, Juve are close to agreeing a £8.3m a year deal with the player. That will see him earn a tidy £160,000 a week deal, as well as a significant signing-on bonus.

The package, however, is dwarved by the reported £350,000 a week deal Pogba has collected at United since 2016.

Nonetheless, that is a move Pogba appears willing to make, especially given that was where he has played the best football of his career.

Furthermore, Juve are also reported to have sold Pogba an exciting vision of life back in Turin.

They are reported to have told him they plan to build the team around him and January signing Dusan Vlahovic.

And despite his struggles at Manchester United, they still see the player as one of the world’s elite midfielders.

Juventus return makes a lot of sense for Paul Pogba

Moving back to Turin is certainly a signing that ticks plenty of boxes.

Juventus have shown themselves in recent years the masters of the free transfer. Indeed, they have brought in a number of top stars as free agents.

Having pocketed the best part of £90m from his sale in 2016, bringing him back as a free agent will be music to their ears.

And the move also gives Pogba a great chance to ressurect his career in Serie A.

He previously looked like a world beater for the Bianconeri. But returning to where he was his happiest certainly makes a great deal of sense.

Anf if they can get him back playing to the levels seen that convinced United to shell out big money, then Juve will be getting themselves a great deal.

United, meanwhile, are reportedly closing in on Pogba’s replacement with a staggering deal looking likely.
