Permanent deal, no loan: Romano issues update on Chelsea star set to leave the club
Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea future appears to be entering its decisive stage, with Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid both pushing to sign the Senegal international before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea are prepared to sanction Jackson’s departure, but their position is clear: they want a permanent sale rather than another loan.
That could give Aston Villa an advantage, particularly if Ollie Watkins completes his proposed move to Al-Hilal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the coming days will be crucial for Jackson, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will only consider a permanent transfer, with loan proposals currently off the table.
Romano also reports that Aston Villa are in daily contact with the parties involved as they prepare for the possibility of replacing Watkins, while Atletico Madrid remain interested and continue pushing for Jackson.
Villa’s interest could quickly become more concrete. Sky Sports reported that Chelsea value Jackson at around £65m, while Aston Villa are expected to make their move if Watkins leaves for Al-Hilal.
Atletico have also shown interest but had previously preferred a loan arrangement.

Chelsea’s refusal to sanction another loan is significant because it immediately changes the race for Jackson.
Atletico may like the striker, but unless they are prepared to commit substantial money to a permanent deal, Villa could become the more realistic destination.
There is also a natural fit. Jackson previously worked with Unai Emery at Villarreal, meaning the Villa manager already understands his strengths, weaknesses and personality.
For Chelsea, selling for around £65m would also represent useful business as Xabi Alonso continues reshaping his attack.
Jackson has never lacked pace, movement or potential, but consistency has been the issue. A move to Villa could give him the regular responsibility he needs.
